Tom Carberry
defends the individual against the State and corporations. With
over ten years experience in both appellate level and trial
level criminal defense, Tom Carberry now specializes in civil
and
criminal appeals, felony trials, and legal
advice and analysis for lawyers (specialized jury instructions,
complex motions practice, case analysis and advice). He has
a subspecialty as an expert witness in post-conviction litigation
challenging the competence of prior counsel.
His appellate experience includes a year as a clerk for Justice
Joseph R. Quinn on the Colorado Supreme Court, a year as a staff
lawyer for the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, D.C.,
and three years as an appellate lawyer for the Colorado State
Public Defender. From 1995 to 2000 Tom worked as a felony trial
lawyer for the Colorado State Public Defender, primarily in the
Denver trial office. As a former senior attorney for the Colorado
State Public Defender in the Denver trial office and Denver Drug
Court, he has defended well over a thousand felony cases. Tom
has tried dozens of felony trials, from first-degree murder to
felony menacing.
